River Barrow Reed Boat
This project was inspired by Thor Heyerdahl's Ra Expeditions. Heyerdahl used papyrus to build his vessel, I used common club rush for mine.
The reeds were harvested from along the River Barrow, dried in the open air for several weeks, then bound in bunches to form a canoe.
The design is based on the Native American Tule canoe.
